Observation: Invented example: the learner asked for the sharing instructions again and used a drawn tray to keep track of one group. The tutor had not yet checked a new problem with the same support.
Educator interpretation: This gives a question to explore about task approach. The division concept, wording and previous instruction may also matter. The thinking-task response does not explain the division answers.

Educator’s question: On a fresh sharing problem, how does the learner use a visible tray sketch and a short checklist to keep track and explain equal groups?
Educator’s reason: The tutor recorded requests to hear the sharing instructions again and use of a drawn tray. I want to keep the steps and groups visible on a new problem, then ask how the learner explains the sharing. I'll record prompts and ask whether the sketch felt useful.
Other possible explanations: The division idea may need more teaching. Wording, prior experience and adult prompts may change the response. The Spatial Update record does not establish a cause of the division answers.
Support trial
Planned support: Keep established accommodations. Offer an empty tray sketch and a three-step checklist: share, count, explain. Let the learner choose whether to use them. Record each adult prompt and keep this supported activity separate from the assessment.
What to look for: How the learner shares objects equally, checks the total and explains the groups. Record the help used and what the learner says about the sketch; do not turn this into a score comparison.
Planned conditions: One-to-one sample tutoring activity; untimed; a new problem; usual access supports retained. Record whether the adult models a step or repeats the prompt.

Who makes Milestone Teachers?
Milestone Teachers is a small, independent publisher in Toronto, Ontario, founded by Brandon Robert, a teacher and former assistive-technology trainer. Our quality page explains how units are checked before release.
Which new curricula do you have full-year resources for?
Three, each in its first year: Ontario's 2026 Kindergarten program, Alberta's new Grade 6 Social Studies and Manitoba's renewed Grade 6 Science. Each has a full-year bundle, single units or parts, and a free lab, planner or year plan to try first.
Are the classroom labs free, and do students need a login?
Yes, the labs are free, with no login and no email address. They open in the browser and project in class, and each one says what it keeps: most save nothing, and some save only on your device. They are focused activities, such as a 3D seasons model, not complete courses.
What is 1080 Learner?
1080 Learner is a research edition for educators and tutors. Short math, literacy and thinking tasks become one page per learner: what we saw, what it might mean, what to try tomorrow and how you'll know. It is not a diagnosis and gives no scores or norms. Access lasts 365 days from activation. Inspect a sample report before buying.
When do Ontario progress report cards go home?
In Ontario, schools use the Elementary Progress Report Card between October 20 and November 20, according to Growing Success (2010), the province's assessment and reporting policy. Your school board sets the exact dates. The free Evidence Ledger helps you gather observations, conversations and student work by strand before you write.
Do you have sub plans for a supply or substitute teacher?
Yes. There are full-day, no-prep emergency sub plans for Grades 1–8, Ontario supply-teacher days for Grades 1 and 2, a Middle School Sub Tub with 10 no-prep days and an editable sub binder, and a free guide to what goes in a sub binder.
Do you have resources for teachers in the United States?
Yes. Reading units, sub plans, classroom checks and several free labs are written for a grade, not a province. We name a state standard only where a resource cites it, such as Virginia 2023 SOL 4.NS.3a-d in Fraction Detectives.
