Science Claims and Evidence | Grade 7 Claim Review Studio

Help Grade 7 learners decide what a scientific record supports—and what it cannot tell them yet. Learners begin with four sourced Winnipeg air-temperature observations, then work through a fictional tile-temperature claim: record what is known, name a limit, complete a peer check, respond to a shared returned record, and apply the reasoning independently to a fictional bridge-model record. The real air-data opener is distinct from the fictional practice records. One ZIP includes 20 PDF pages across five files: cover; 5-page Standard learner edition; 5-page Access learner edition; 8-page teacher guide; and 1-page Winnipeg air-data opener. It also includes two editable Word masters, a 14-slide editable teacher PowerPoint, six staged plain-text learner alternatives, text-use instructions, and a START HERE guide. Word and PowerPoint software are not included. Use Standard or Access per learner; they are alternative formats for the same lesson. Access uses shorter prose and optional language frames while preserving the records and reasoning. Learners may write, explain aloud, dictate, or point to the record. Estimated 30–35 minutes, unpiloted; allow additional access and discussion time. Learners use supplied records only: no tile-heating, bridge-building, or physical experiment. Supports selected aspects of Manitoba SCI.7.D.1 and SCI.7.C.3; it is not a complete unit, standardized assessment, official provincial rubric, diagnostic, or report-card grade.
