1080 Learner · Research edition
What is a learning check?
Short answer. In 1080 Learner, a learning check is a short math, literacy or optional thinking task that a learner completes through a private link. The educator then reviews the learner's actual responses, the conditions, and support ideas to try. It is a source of evidence for a conversation, not a test result: it gives no norms, IQ scores or diagnoses.
What the learner does
The learner opens a private link in a browser and answers short questions or tries short tasks. They do not need a learner account. Academic items depend on the learner's earlier answers and the items in the collection. Thinking tasks are short activities such as keeping track of moves, spotting a pattern or following a rule that changes.
What the educator sees
One page per learner keeps the answer, the task and the possible support options in view. In the public sample, a learner wrote 13 for the blank in 7 + 6 = ___ + 4. An answer does not show how the learner got there; the 1080 page suggests asking the learner how they decided. The educator decides what to explore or try in the learner's real setting.
What a learning check is not
Scope and limits. No norms, IQ scores, diagnoses or high-stakes placement decisions. It has not been validated; item review and learner studies are still needed. Current content samples selected skills across three broad bands; it is not a complete K–12 assessment battery. Session timing has not been established through learner trials.
1080 Learner supports teaching and tutoring decisions. It does not replace a professional psychoeducational assessment or clinical diagnosis. Review results alongside classroom work, learner conversations and professional judgment.
See a sample before you decide
You can open a sample report without an account to inspect the response evidence, the support review and the family summary. Sample data is not a real student record.

Questions teachers ask
What is a learning check?
A short math, literacy or optional thinking task that a learner completes through a private link, so that an educator can review the learner's responses and decide what to try next.
Is a learning check an IQ test?
No. 1080 is in early access and is meant for low-stakes teaching and tutoring conversations. It has not been validated and provides no norms, IQ scores, grade equivalents, diagnoses or high-stakes placement recommendations. Thinking-task responses are observations within a task, not learner traits. Review every suggestion alongside classroom work, learner explanations and professional judgment.
Can a learning check diagnose a learning difficulty?
1080 Learner supports teaching and tutoring decisions. It does not replace a professional psychoeducational assessment or clinical diagnosis. Review results alongside classroom work, learner conversations and professional judgment.
How long does a learning check take?
Learners open private links in a browser with an internet connection. They do not need a learner account. Use the sample on the intended device before a session, and check the task instructions and access needs. Session timing has not yet been established through learner trials; allow breaks and follow the learner’s needs.
Where is the data stored, and who can use it?
Adults control the workspace. Independent tutor and parent use is for learners aged 13+. Younger learners can participate through an authorized school arrangement. Data is stored in the United States; Nova Scotia public schools are excluded under the current hosting arrangement. Read the notice and follow your institution’s permission requirements before using it with learners.
