What changed in 2026/27

The renewed K to 10 Science curriculum has been finalized and posted for full implementation in the 2026/27 school year.

Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning, Framework for Learning

  • From voluntary to full implementation. The renewed documents were posted for voluntary use in 2025-26. In 2026/27 they are the science program.
  • Strands instead of clusters. The old grade clusters are gone. Five strands, A to E, run through the whole year; Strand E, Scientific Knowledge, holds the content.
  • Outcomes grouped by big ideas. Scientific Knowledge outcomes are grouped by big ideas of science, not into units, and teachers may reorder them. In Grade 6 there are 17.
